My Baking Bucket List

Ever since I started my baking journey, I’ve had various ongoing lists of the things I want to bake. I’ve taken so many screenshots, I’ve got so many notes on my phone and you should see my baking inspiration board on Pinterest – it’s ridiculously long.

However, while I do love to try new things from time to time, I know I also play it safe a lot of the time. With that said, I’ve decided to create an honest list of bakes that I’ve never got around to making. Some are more challenging – for example, I haven’t made a huge amount of bread or pastry – while others are classic bakes that I’ve always wanted to try.

The list is pretty short for the time being, and I’m sure it will grow as I discover new delicious treats to make, but I’m excited to expand and perfect my baking skills.

So, here goes…

1. Apple turnovers

I ADORE apple turnovers. I don’t know why I’ve never tried to make them but they’re at the top of my list!

2. New York cheesecake

After trying the real deal in New York in 2018 (shout out to Junior’s Bakery) I’m determined to recreate this delicious dessert.

3. Lemon meringue pie
4. Croissants
5. Pain au chocolat

My fiancé and I spent our 4th anniversary in Paris and I’ve never eaten so many pastries in my life. A must-bake!

6. Brookies

It’s a combination of two of my favourite bakes – cookies and brownies. What’s not to love? And why have I never made them?!

7. Gingerbread house
8. Lattice-topped apple pie

This was one of my absolute favourite desserts when I was a kid, but I haven’t had a good apple pie in years! It’s about time for me to make my own.

9. Fault line cake

These gorgeous cakes became a huge baking trend last year, and I’ve always wanted an excuse to make my own.

10. Banana bread

Bit of a shocker considering that EVERYONE is making it right now, but no, I’ve never actually made banana bread myself. It definitely has a place on my list.

11. Sour dough bread
12. Blondies
13. Eclairs

I have made profiteroles, which are obviously made using the same pastry, so hopefully shouldn’t be too big a challenge.

14. Bagels
15. Souffle

What’s on your baking bucket list? Let me know in the comments.
